Health Care Bill Finally Passes

Last night, Washington narrowly passed the new health care bill into law, with a vote of 220 to 215. One Republican crossed party lines to vote the bill into law, and 39 Democrats crossed over to try and keep the health care bill out. But, despite all of their best efforts, President Obama signed the bill into law late last night. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you clearly live under a rock, so I will take pity on you and explain. The health care bill will (haha that rhymed......sorry) not only give people who can't afford health insurance a public option, but give Americans that already have health insurance the benefit of no longer being able to be denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition, or being dropped if you get sick. Despite what you might have heard from some people who were trying to scare us into voting the bill out, there are not 'death panels' or some other such nonsense. this bill will also bring down drug costs for seniors, keep health care companies from charging a women more than a man for the same coverage, and allow young adults to stay on their parents coverage until they are 27. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi added that she promised that the bill wouldn't add "not one dime to the deficit." Some people think that this is a bad idea, that the public option is a bad one, but i think its better than the coverage most Americans have - none!
